Alicia is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who received her Master of Arts in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Montclair State University. To supplement her interest in sport performance training and her own athletic pursuits as a runner, she obtained a certificate in sport and exercise psychology from Seton Hall University. Alicia has also completed specialized mindfulness-based training focused on stress reduction and is certified in Sand Play Therapy.
Alicia’s extensive experience in higher education has provided her with a strong understanding of college student development and the common mental health challenges students face. She has over 10 years of experience in career counseling with undergraduate students, student-athletes, and medical students. She enjoys helping young adults with “adulting,” goal setting, transitioning to college or careers, and exploring majors and career paths.
Additionally, Alicia has experience working in private group practices with teens, couples, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, work stress, trauma, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, ADHD/ADD, and various other concerns.
In sessions, Alicia demonstrates warm rapport, empathy, patience, and acceptance of where the client currently is, creating a nonjudgmental, safe, and trusting environment. She uses a variety of techniques depending on each individual’s needs and comfort level, including Strengths-Based Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, psychoeducation, and mindfulness strategies.
Outside of sessions, Alicia enjoys spending time outdoors by running, going to the beach, walking her dog, and making snow sculptures.
