Kamilla is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) with a Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Montclair State University.
Kamilla has been working in the counseling field for two years and currently serves as a School-Based Therapist at a middle school. Prior to this, she spent six years as an Instructional Assistant, supporting high school students with translation and emotional needs. These roles gave her a strong foundation in working with children, teens, and families from diverse backgrounds. Kamilla also has experience incorporating creative modalities such as sand play and creative arts, and she is continually seeking growth and new techniques in her profession to best support her clients.
In her practice, Kamilla works with children, adolescents, and adults who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem and self-worth challenges, family or parent–child relationship concerns, divorce and separation, binge eating and emotional eating, and adjustment to new phases of life. She utilizes interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inner Child Work, and Psychodynamic/Insight-Oriented approaches, guiding clients to explore how past experiences shape their present. Kamilla’s therapeutic style encourages clients to gain new perspectives, heal from past traumas, and achieve their present goals. She also emphasizes highlighting strengths and building resilience as part of the healing process.
Culturally sensitive and fluent in both English and Portuguese, Kamilla brings her multicultural perspective into her counseling. She grew up in the United States with parents from Brazil, which allows her to connect with clients navigating identity, cultural adjustment, and family dynamics. She also offers counseling that incorporates Christian values for clients who seek faith-based support.
Outside of her professional life, Kamilla values family above all and enjoys spending time with her loved ones. She believes that personal growth is a lifelong journey without deadlines—each experience, whether positive or difficult, shapes us into our greater selves.
Kamilla’s philosophy is that as human beings, we all experience ups and downs regardless of our background. Her goal as a therapist is to help clients recognize that their life story is unique, meaningful, and worth embracing. She reminds clients that they are not alone. Healing and growth are possible and we are all here to support one another.
