Vanessa Palmore is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) with over four years of experience in the mental health field. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and holds two master’s degrees—one in Clinical Mental Health and one in Forensic Psychology from Walden University. Vanessa has worked as an outpatient therapist in several methadone clinics and as a behavioral health clinician in partial care facilities. She also spent time working in inner-city communities with early adolescents, providing treatment and psychoeducation about the dangers of early substance use.
Vanessa has extensive experience working with children as young as six years old, adolescents, adults, the LGBTQ+ community, families, and older adults. She takes an eclectic, integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These approaches have proven effective in helping clients manage depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship issues, and a wide variety of mental health challenges.
Given her cultural background and experience, Vanessa brings a multicultural perspective to her counseling, recognizing how culture shapes identity and life experiences. She also integrates spirituality into her work with clients who wish to explore faith and self-discovery as part of their healing process.
Outside of her professional life, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her three children—playing outdoors, going on adventures, and creating memories together.
