Autumn Activities for Wellness

The season of fall is often thought to be a time of new beginnings, but for some it can signal stress. Whether it is a new school year or upcoming holidays with family, Autumn is not always cozy and carefree. It is important to practice self-care during this time.

Autumn Activities that Promote Wellness:

Go apple or pumpkin picking

Have some fun outdoors and go pick some fresh produce. This is an activity that you can do alone or with a group. If you choose to bake or decorate with your findings, that may spark some joy!

Nature walks

Go for a hike or take a walk around the block. Fall is a great time to experience the outdoors, especially when the air turns crisp. Bring a sweatshirt and bundle up or bring a hot beverage with you to cultivate that cozy autumn feeling. Studies have shown that just being outdoors can help with symptoms of anxiety and depression!

Journaling

With the start of a new season, it can be beneficial to begin a new habit such as journaling. Journaling can help you organize your thoughts, practice gratitude, or provide motivation for the day. The best part of journaling is you can do it wherever you are.

Clean and decorate your space

For some, Autumn provides a chance to decorate their homes for the season and holidays. Take this time to organize and clean up your home after the whirlwind of summer. Make your space warm and cozy. If you celebrate Halloween, put up some decorations that make you smile! This is an activity that can include others as well.

If you find yourself or a loved one struggling with mental health this Autumn, do not hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional. A therapist can help explore your emotions and provide coping skills. Counseling can also assist with understanding the importance of self-care throughout the entire year!
